EASTER, PASSAGE, REBIRTH
A look at the sense of the sacred and the rituals that have always bound all human beings
As part of the Amir Project and on the occasion of the International Museum Day 2020 promoted by ICOM, iMuseums of Fiesole have made eight appointments dedicated to the Festivities in the world. The concept of celebration is linked to that of community, identity, social cohesion, collective memory. The party is an anniversary, a tradition, which has the function of handing down the memory of an event and its repetition becomes a ritual.
Through the works of art and the historical testimonies conserved in the Fiesole Museums, the AMIR mediators accompany us on a journey that sheds light on some of the multiple links that exist between the symbols, rites and celebrations that human beings over the course of millennia have created to express their sense of the sacred, with the common intent to give meaning to human existence.
In particular, these eight videos invite us to cast our gaze on some of the festivities that celebrate a transition, a rebirth, acquiring different connotations in time and space, but always maintaining many points of contact.

AMIREDU
In a difficult moment like the one we are experiencing today, where even museums are closed, we try to carry on our work with a positive look towards the future. Study, analysis and narration of cultural heritage thus become the main object of our attention to better enrich the time at home and not lose the enthusiasm of being together. Amir, who finds his roots in meeting and being together, is happy to experiment with new ways of meeting, to come back more aware and prepared than before!

The Roman baths and their legacy in Mediterranean cultures
During the imperial age, attendance at the baths was for the Romans not only an aspect of the
daily life, but also a symbol of their lifestyle. The observation of the Roman baths of
Fiesole will be the starting point for a journey that will lead us to the discovery of habits, rites and
symbols that the peoples of the Mediterranean have been handing down for millennia.

The Etruscan-Roman temple of Fiesole and the sacrificial rites
Starting from the analysis of the Etruscan-Roman temple of Fiesole, we will be accompanied on a journey
which sheds light on some of the many links that exist between the symbols, rituals and festivals that beings
humans over the millennia have created to express their sense of the sacred, with intent
of giving meaning to human existence.

The theater and the mask
The wearing of masks is a phenomenon that unites all human cultures. The analysis of the Roman theater
of Fiesole was the starting point for the search for connections on this theme, which will allow us to
discover other masks, their symbolic relationships and cultural values, specific to the society
has created, which underlie them.
